PawPeds Health Programme against PRA now in full swing!

The first test results are now entered in PawPeds. Most cats do not have the gene for PRA, but there are some cats that are carriers and hitherto two cats that are affected. Cats with health results entered have the letter h in brackets to the right, you will find a [h]

How to find cats with health results entered in PawPeds:

Go to the SIA database, link http://www.pawpeds.com/db/?p=sia&date=iso

Click on Advanced Search and scroll down a bit, towards the bottom of the displayed, white square.

There you will find Health Info (to the left) and a box with a blue arrow (to the right).

Click on the blue arrow and mark Yes.

Then click on Search and a list of cats with health results entered will be displayed.

Click on [h] and the result for that cat in question will be displayed.

Wherever you are in PawPeds databases and independent of breed, a [h] always indicate that there is a result in a Health Programme to read. The sign [h] is visible both in pedigrees (= the ancestry of a cat) and in cat lists that a Search generates. When you are in the position “looking on a certain cat’s pedigree” for just that cat in question, you should instead click on Health Info (above the cat’s name, to the right).

How to understand the info in the health programme:

Issued by = the Laboratory that has analysed the test

Date = the date when the test was runned in the Laboratory

Age = the cat’s age when the test was done (first figure = number of years / second figure = number of months / third figure = number of days)

Negative = the cat does not have the rdAc-mutation

Carrier = the cat has one recessive gene for the rdAc-mutation

Homozygous = the cat has two recessive genes for the disease (PRA) and is blind/or is going to be blind

How to get the result of your cat’s PRA test entered in PawPeds:

Send a copy of the laboratory’s official test result to the Registrator. Do mention that you as owner of the cat, want the result entered and made visible in PawPeds. It is OK to send this by e-mail.

If neither the cat nor its ancestry, is entered in the SIA-database, it is best if you enclose a copy of the cat’s official pedigree or corresponding document (it is OK to forward a scanned copy via e-mail).

我的老師，瑞典人，女性，一直為貓工作，在1957年六月28日擁有第一隻暹羅貓，在1974年十二月正式獲得註冊成為暹羅貓配育員。從1979年至1992年為 FIFe 瑞典分會 SVERAK 的正式血統書管理員。1982年至2002年－SVERAK 品種分會委員。Dagny 是所有組別的評判（接受 FIFe 訓練）現在是 WCF 的評判。Dagny 與挪威的 Eva Minde 合作編訂 FIFe 的 EMS 編碼。現在是 PawPeds 的所有課程的老師，部份課程內容由 Dagny 提供並且翻譯成多種語言。

Dagny 與另外4位來自瑞典，芬蘭和丹麥的暹羅貓配育員合作，開始 PRA 的健康計劃。現在計劃已經接收了超過100 份報告，其中一半的貓是正常異合（carrier），部份患病純合的貓已經出現視覺問題，部份是純合正常（normal）。希望這一個健康計劃能幫助更多的配育員選育，減低患病的貓出現。
